Emotional Freedom Techniques

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as tapping, is a therapeutic modality that combines elements of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. Developed by Gary Craig in the 1990s, EFT involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on verbalizing and addressing emotional issues or negative thought patterns.

The foundation of EFT lies in the belief that disruptions in the body's energy system contribute to emotional and physical distress. By tapping on specific meridian points, practitioners aim to release blocked energy and alleviate emotional or physical symptoms.

In an EFT session, individuals identify a specific issue, emotion, or belief they want to address and assign it a level of intensity. While tapping on key acupressure points, individuals express their feelings or thoughts related to the issue. The process aims to neutralize negative emotions and reframe thought patterns, promoting a sense of emotional freedom and well-being.

One of the positive aspects of EFT is its simplicity and accessibility. It can be easily learned and applied by individuals for self-help or integrated into therapeutic settings. EFT is used to address a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, trauma, phobias, and chronic pain

While EFT's mechanisms are not fully understood, anecdotal evidence and some research suggest its effectiveness in promoting emotional release and reducing symptoms. The practice continues to gain popularity as a versatile and user-friendly tool for emotional healing and personal growth.
